Celine Atkinson, MS

Research Assistant, OHS PhD Student

Celine is currently a first year Ph.D. student in the McLean Lab. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 2018 with her B.S. in Microbiology and a minor in American Sign Language. Additionally, in 2023 she graduated from the same institution with her M.S. in Biology.

In her master’s program, Celine studied microbial interactions in the sea squirt gut microbiome, particularly focusing on bacterial strain-level variation and bacteriophage dynamics. During her doctoral studies, she will be leading efforts to develop single cell prokaryotic approaches to study cell-cell interactions in the human microbiome.

In her free time, she heavily enjoys cooking and trying out new recipes. She also enjoys running, reading, and having fun.
